Allerona is in the north of Orvieto, and in the southest part of the Umbria region. This small medieval borough is very close to a green zone near the natural park of Villalba and the borders with Tuscany. Not far from here, there are the San Casciano de Bagni natural spa.

As in many towns of the region, the gastronomy counts many dishes with pork meat and wild boar. Delicious marmalades and honey are typical, too.

Castelviscardo CASTLE

Very close to Allerona, there is the town of Castelviscardo, a small borough with a beautiful castle. Inside the castle, there is a large park, often used for cultural and social events.

Info

The town is located on a hill top position, as it hosted the old medieval castle of the noble Monaldeschi family. The heritage of this noble past is represented by the famous city doors called Porta della Luna and Porta del Sole, today the main entrances to the historical downtown.
