The city of  San Francesco, the most popular Saint in Italy and probably in the world. The big Basilica dedicated to the saint is the main symbol of the whole city. The Saint Francis path This excursion follows a path 46 kms long and it also follows the same trails that Saint Francis did for the first time in the year 1206. The itineraries starts from Porta San Giacomo di Assisi, and goes on through  Valfabbrica, up the place called "Il Pioppo", from  Valfabbrica the path continues towards Gubbio direction.

Museums & Monuments The San Francesco Basilica. The realization of the Assisi Superior Basilica was opened in 1253 by Pope Innocenzo IV. The Inferior Basilica Inferiore is a huge crypt, targeted to pilgrims and to the Saint lovers. The Superior Basilica is targeted to official events and ceremonies and it can even host the Pope. Many great Cimabue (1277), Giotto (1296) and other unique artists' masterpieces such as frescoes and decorations are all over the buildings. The Rocca Maggiore, Frederick of Svevia Residence in 1174, was destroyed and totally rebuilt in 1356. The Rocca is on a hill which dominates the whole city. Over the walls is the Maschio, from where visitora can admire a stunning view of the underneath valley.
