Museums & Monuments
-the Duomo or also named the Santa Maria in Fiore Cathedral with the gorgeous Brunelleschi Chapel and the bell tower (entrance € 6,00). From the top of the bell tower you can see an amazing view of the whole city.
-Piazza della Signoria: this square is a must-see ! Visitors should walk in one of the most beautiful squares in the world, where is Palazzo della Signoria, from where you can get to the Uffizi Museum porch and to the Arno river. From here you can see a unique view of Ponte Vecchio.
-Ponte Vecchio: the most famous Florence bridge over the Arno river, simbolo di Firenze, dove hanno sede molte celebri gioiellerie fiorentine.
-Palazzo Pitti: originally it was the Tuscany Grand Dukes residence, later it turned into the Kings of Italy residence, today it hosts important collections of paintings, sculptures, porcelaines, a costume gallery in a perfectly kept building which extends until the Boboli Garden, on of the most famous and earliest italian gardens. A 45.000 square mts area open to visitors in 1766, where in its central point are an ancient amphitheatre and the Giambologna fountain.
-Galleria degli Uffizi: on of the best museums in the world. Originally, it was meant to be the Medici family office, today it contains pieces of art made by artists from all over the world, such as Cimabue, Giotto, Masaccio, Beato Angelico, Leonardo da Vinci, Botticelli, Michelangelo, Piero della Francesca, Raffaello, Caravaggio, Rubens, Rembrandt, Dürer, Goya and many others. The Corridoio Vasariano, which connects the Galleria degli Uffizi with Palazzo Pitti, hosts a wide collection of past and present artists portraits. It was built by Vasari in 1565 and it passes right over Ponte Vecchio.
-Palazzo Medici Riccardi and Palazzo del Michelozzo. These two buildings have to be seen, as well as their cloister and the Gozzoli frescoes in the Magi Chapel.
-Piazza San Giovanni: beautiful square with its Battistero (doors made by Ghiberti), it is also called "il Campanile di Giotto".
-Santa Croce Basilique: a Gothic church with Giotto and Gaddi frescoes, Donatello sculptures and a beautiful cloister. The entrance costs € 3,00. this church was probably built by Arnolfo di Cambio and its interiors are considered among the best in Italy, with Dante, Machievelli, Galileo and Michelangelo tumbs.
-San Lorenzo: one of the two churches built in Florence by Brunelleschi. This church contains a unique treasure: the Michelangelo Biblioteca Laurenziana (library).
-Santa Maria Novella: Gothic church, with a Reinassant facade added by Alberti in the Fifteenth Century. Inside the church you can admire Giotto, Masaccio and Paolo Uccello frescoes.
-Santissima Annunziata square: one of the first Reinassant squares, with symmetrical buildings and a trapeze shape. In this square is the Ospedale degli Innocenti, built by Brunelleschi, with its elegant Loggia and the church built by Michelozzo, where you can admire Andrea del Castagno and Pontormo paintings. Near there is the San Marco Church Museum.
-Santa Apollonia: in this church you can see the Andrea del Castagno fresco, named "L'ultima cena".
-Palazzo del Bargello: Medieval palace, today it hosts the Bargello Museum, where visitors can see its wonderful interiors and Donatello, Michelangelo, Brunelleschi and Ghiberti sculptures.
-Palazzo Gondi: a palace symbol of the Florence palaces evolution between the Middle Age to the Reinassance.
-Other Palaces: Palazzo Vecchio, Palazzo Davanzati, Palazzo Alberti, Palazzo Rucellai.
